Mr. Press is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School and the SUNY at StonyBrook. He started playing the piano at the age of 5 but did not play much between the ages of 13 and 21. He resumed playing when ragtime had a resurgence in the 1970's. Mr. Press worked for various companies as a computer programmer and became a consultant in 1979. In 1996 he started the Digital Entertainment Network and he retired from consulting in 2000. In 1998 he created The Great American Ragtime Revival, a music album containing ragtime piano combined with sound effects. He is currently President of The Digital Entertainment Network..
